Category: Studio Policies
Studio Dates:
Lessons begin on the Tuesday after Labor Day unless communicated otherwise. Studio is open for 37 weeks during the academic year, and students receive a maximum of 35 lessons. The final two weeks of the year are make-up weeks for the purpose of make-up lessons, which are offered on an “as needed” basis and at my sole discretion. Summer lessons are offered during the make-up weeks for those without make-ups. Summer lessons occur in July and August and are optional.
Tuition:
Lesson length | Monthly tuition (prorated) |
30 mins | $279 |
40 mins | $338 |
50 mins | $385 |
- Tuition ensures the holding of a lesson slot for your child for 37 weeks. Included are weekly or bi-weekly group lessons, ensemble rehearsals, two recitals and two (or more) concerts per year, accompanist fees (does not include Seattle Young Artist Music Festival) and rental costs for concert and class facilities. Tuition is based on student’s lesson length, not the number of individual or group lessons received.
- Tuition is not reduced to compensate for missed lessons or canceled group lessons under any circumstances.
- Tuition is due by the first lesson of the month and no later than the 7th of each month, and I reserve the right to charge a $15 late fee if tuition is received late.
- Tuition is to be paid September through May. No tuition is collected in June. Please note that tuition is already prorated and remains the same for those months.
- I except Venmo payments @Peter-Williams-111 and Zelle payments at Pfwill@msn.com. Payments may also be cash or check.
- You may deliver payment in person, or mail a check to 9750 4th Ave NW, Unit A, Seattle, WA 98117.
- I may shorten instructional time if I deem it necessary or to compensate for time spent setting/packing up.
- A student may withdraw from my studio at any time and received a prorated refund of unused tuition based on the calendar week. However, their lesson slot may be filled by another student and they may be unable to re-enroll.
- Hardship events are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Make-up Policies:
- Students are not guaranteed any make-up lessons.
- Make-up lessons are scheduled on a space-available basis only and must be made up within seven days of the cancelled lesson. The one exception is during the make-up weeks at the end of the year.
- No more than four make-up lessons may be scheduled per year, per student that includes the make-up weeks.
- Missed lessons due to “forgetting” are not made up under any circumstances.
- Students are encouraged to arrange their own lesson switches with other families which will not impact their quota.
- Lessons canceled by me are made up, except as noted below.
- Exception: I reserve the right to cancel, without a make-up, one lesson per year due to snow and one lesson due to illness or personal/professional reasons.
- Students who arrive late forfeit the time missed and their lesson is not extended to compensate for the missed minutes. If I choose to go “overtime” with the previous student while waiting for a tardy student, I am not obligated to extend the tardy student’s lesson after they arrive.
Make-up Week Policies:
- Two make-up weeks are included on the schedule for the purpose of make-up lessons.
- In terms of lesson scheduling, my make-up lesson obligations take precedence during these weeks.
- If a student is unavailable during a make-up week at their regularly scheduled lesson time, they forfeit that lesson.
- Make-up weeks are offered as a courtesy and may be canceled by me at any time for any reason.
- Students without a lesson during the make-up week period are free to schedule one or more at their discretion. The fee for that lesson(s) is based on the summer lesson rate.
Note: By enrolling in my studio, you agree to these policies.
