Fall Recital 2022- Info

In-Person Recital

  • Where: Greenlake United Methodist Church
  • When: Sunday, November 20, 2022; 2:00-4:00
  • Arrival time: 1:30
  • What to bring: cello, rockstop, sheet music (if needed).
  • Attire: performers should wear nice clothes. Girls in long dress, blouse & skirt or slacks, boys in dress or dark pants and buttoned dress shirt or polo. No flip-flops or light-colored tennis shoes.
  • Parking: in front of the church or on the street.
  • Attendance policy:
    • Cello Jello students must stay until intermission.
    • All other students must remain for the ENTIRE recital.
    • The only exception is if the student has a Youth Symphony or other sanctioned cello performance (please ask me first) that will result in a late arrival or a need to leave early. Otherwise, no exceptions.

Virtual Recital

***Note: the Virtual Recital is only for those students who are not participating in the in-person recital.***

  • When: Sunday, November 20, 2022; 10:00AM-11:00AM on Zoom. Please log in at 9:50AM.
  • Zoom link: here
  • Attire: dress nicely
  • Instrument set-up: please tune ahead of time, rosin bow, and clean cello.

Video set-up:

  • Choose a well-lit room with good acoustics and a good WiFi connection.
  • Make the background as plain and clutter-free as possible.
  • Place the music stand (if using) to the left side so you’re not blocked from view.
  • Position the computer so you and your cello are fully in the frame (from the knees up is okay).
  • Use landscape mode.
  • Face forward – do not face to the side.
  • See picture below as an example.
  • When finished performing, you may move elsewhere in the house to watch the rest of the recital.
  • When watching others, select “Speaker View” (not “Grid View”) to best see them.

Sound set-up:

IMPORTANT! Please make these adjustments to improve the sound quality. I believe these can only be made on a computer (not an iPad).

  • Click the up arrow next to the microphone.
  • Select Audio Settings.
  • Automatically adjust microphone volume: OFF
  • Suppress background noise: LOW
  • Show in-meeting option to enable “Original Sound”: ON
  • High fidelity music mode: ON
  • Click Advanced
  • Signal processing by Windows audio device drivers: OFF (Raw)
  • Echo cancellation: AUTO
  • Return to the main screen
  • Original Sound (upper left corner): ON

Recital etiquette:

  • Please set up before it’s your turn to play.
  • Listen respectfully and attentively to the other performers.
  • Encourage friends and relatives to attend!

Please email me your fall lesson requests based on the times below.  Please provide more than one option if possible. My policy is to hold your time over from last year if that is your preference, but it is not always possible with longer lesson amounts.

Cellopalooza and CelloFest 2022! Info

Cellopalooza! (Spring Concert)

  • When: 5/22/22 at 2:00-4:00 (1:00 arrival)
  • Where: Greenlake United Methodist Church
  • What to bring:
    1. Cello
    1. Stool
    2. Music (Cello Phil members)
  • Attire: Concert clothes.
  • Parking: Church parking or street parking.
  • Invite your family and friends! The venue is large with plenty of space to socially distance.

CelloFest!

  • When: Directly following Cellopalooza (approximately 4:30)
  • Where: Greenlake Play Field
  • What to bring:
    • Money for pizza ($10 per person – I’ll refund if it’s less)
    • Optional: frisbees, balls, blankets, outdoor clothes, sunscreen
      • ***Note: Tell me how many for pizza by 5/21. Cash or Venmo @Peter-Williams-111. I also need a parent volunteer to pick up the pizza after the concert.

  • When: Saturday, March 19, 2022; 4:00-6:00
  • Arrival time: 3:30
  • What to bring: cello, rockstop, sheet music (if needed).
  • Attire: performers should wear nice clothes. Girls in long dresses or slacks, boys in dress or dark pants and buttoned dress shirts or polos. No flip-flops or tennis shoes.
  • Park in the parking lot on the north side of the church (off of 5th Ave).
  • Enter through the main doors on 95th St.
  • Students with Saturday lessons WILL have lessons on March 19th.
  • Attendance policy: Cello Jello students must stay until intermission.  Cello Philharmonic and Cello X students must remain for the ENTIRE recital.  No exceptions.
