Cello X rocks Alaska Airlines Arena with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem this Saturday at the University of Washington Men’s Basketball game! The Huskies are facing the University of Arizona Wildcats (ranked #7!), but we bleed Purple and Gold and know they will triumph! Info below, and see you there!

We’re back! Join us December 17th and December 18th for two, festive and spectacular Holiday Concerts! See you there!
Concert #1
- When: Friday, December 17, 2021
- Cello Jellos and Cello Philharmonic; 4:30-5:00 (3:45 arrival)
- Cello Philharmonic; 5:15-6:00
- Cello X, 7:00-8:30 (6:30 arrival – members, click here for more detailed info)
- Where: Kraken Community Iceplex (main lobby)
- Parking: Parking Lot #4 (across and northeast of the Iceplex)
- What to bring:
- Cello
- Rockstop
- Music stand (readers only)
- Stool or chair
- Holiday folder and Cello X binder (Cello X members)

***Note: this concert is for readers only. A maximum of six students may attend on a first-request, first serve basis. Priority will be given to students who cannot attend the December 17th concert.

Fall Recital 2021 – Info
In-person Recital
- Where: Olympic View Community Church
- When: Saturday, November 20, 2021; 4:00-6:00
- Arrival time: 3:30
- What to bring: cello, rockstop, sheet music (if needed).
- Attire: performers should wear nice clothes. Girls in long dresses or slacks, boys in dress or dark pants and buttoned dress shirts or polos. No flip-flops or tennis shoes.
- Parking: park in the lot off of 5th Ave (north side of the church) and enter through the main doors on 95th St.
- Saturday students will have lessons on November 20th.
- Searching for a parent volunteer to record the recital. Please let me know if you’re interested.

- Attendance policy: Cello Jello students must stay until intermission. Cello Philharmonic and Cello X students must remain for the ENTIRE recital. No exceptions.
- COVID policy: due to the limited size of the church, only immediate family may attend. Please wear a mask and stay socially distanced.
Virtual Recital
***Note: the Virtual Recital is only for those students who are not participating in the in-person recital.***
- When: Sunday, November 21, 2021; 2:00-3:00 on Zoom. Please arrive at 1:45.

- Attire: dress nicely
- Instrument set-up: please tune ahead of time, rosin bow, and clean cello.
- Program here (scroll to page 2).
Video set-up:
- Choose a well-lit room with good acoustics and a good WiFi connection.
- Make the background as plain and clutter-free as possible.
- Place the music stand (if using) to the left side so you’re not blocked from view.
- Position the computer so you and your cello are fully in the frame (from the knees up is okay).
- Use landscape mode.
- Face forward – do not face to the side.
- See example picture for best set-up.
- When finished performing, you may move elsewhere in the house to watch the rest of the recital.
- When watching others, select “Speaker View” (not “Grid View”) to best see them.
Sound set-up:
IMPORTANT! Please make these adjustments to improve the sound quality. These can only be adjusted with a computer (not an iPad).
- Click the up arrow next to the microphone.
- Select Audio Settings.
- Automatically adjust microphone volume: OFF
- Show in-meeting option to enable “Original Sound”: ON
- Suppress background noise: LOW
- Return to the main screen.
- Original Sound (upper left corner): ON
Recital etiquette:
- Please set up before it’s your turn to play.
- Remain for the full recital and listen respectfully and attentively to the other performers.
- Do not roam around the house, do chores or play on your phone during the recital.
- If you need to use the bathroom, wait until the current performer is finished playing and turn your video off. Turn your video back on when you return.
- Encourage friends and relatives to attend!

Summer Jam 2021 Info!
We’re back! Join us at the Phinney Ridge Center (PNA Center) as we perform as part of their Food Truck Fridays Series! We perform on 7/16 at 6:00-8:00 and 7/30 at 4:00-6:00, and will play all of your favorite tunes from Beethoven to Lin-Manuel Miranda and from Harry Potter to Moana! Look for us under the performer’s tent and remember to sample the many wonderful eats from the Food Truck Vendors! See you there!!

- Rehearsals are at my house on the following dates. Please bring a stand and cello stool.

- 7/29 at 5:00-7:00
- Note: Cello Jello members will be dismissed at 6:00.
- Performance dates are:
